Honouring a Legacy – Andrew Dean Fildes Foundation to Conclude Operations
16 January 2026
After 30 years of dedicated service to our community, SHINE and Andrew Dean Fildes Foundation will be winding up its school programs and operations on 5 March 2026.
Founded by Andrew Dean Fildes OAM, whose vision and tireless commitment have guided our mission since day one, the Foundation has made a lasting impact in championing children with language and learning disabilities and providing them the opportunity and tools to positively manage their challenges.
Andrew’s legacy is reflected in the thousands of lives touched, the partnerships built, and the change we have helped create together.
This decision comes after thoughtful reflection and with immense pride in what we have achieved. We are deeply grateful to our staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and supporters who have stood with us and made a substantial contribution over the years.
As we commence our closure over this next period, we remain committed to honouring our values and ensuring a respectful conclusion to our work.
Additionally, we are pleased to share a copy of our recent research paper, A SHINE Whitepaper, which has been developed to help understand and address Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) in Australia in 2026 and beyond. The impressive work that has been undertaken by the many staff and volunteers have allowed thousands of children to live without the constraints of borders, barriers and discrimination in their education. This work needs to continue, and we hope this resource proves valuable in your continued work and advocacy in this space.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
With sincere appreciation,
Jeff Steiner
Director, Andrew Dean Fildes Foundation
